UNIQUE HANDMADE POTTERY FOR THE HOME INSPIRED BY NATURE AND THE SEA

ajhpottery is focused on producing well crafted handmade pottery for the home that are both playful, practical and decorative. Colour, pattern and texture play a large part in my ceramics. The roots of my inspiration come from having lived in tropical Africa and India as a child and then completing a degree in pattern and textile design at 'West Surrey College of Art and Design'(now UCA)in England. I have also worked as a professional ceramic restorer/conservator for nearly 30 years which has trained my eye to detail and developed my hand skills.

My pottery journey started in earnest when I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work as a studio assistant for Kate Malone (@kate_malone_ceramics ) from her studio in Kent, England. Kate is one of the greatest ceramic artist of our time. From her I gained a true understanding  and love of clay, knowledge of glazing and how to implement proper studio practices. She will always be an inspiration to me and I will always be thankful for her expert teaching.

Before leaving England to live in Denmark I also taught ceramics at 'Clayspace' a not-for profit social enterprise.  I have continued teaching since moving to Denmark through Verninge Husflid and Nordfyns Billedskole.

POTTERY COURSES

Pottery courses  will now take place from my workshop/shop in Glamsbjerg where I hope to pass on my expertly taught knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for clay. I wish to inspire others the way I was inspired and pass on the joy of coming together and working with clay. My courses will be taught in a combination of English and Danish.
